Abstract

Herpes zoster is a common viral infection caused by varicella-zoster virus. Clinically it ischaracterized by painful vesico-bullous eruption in a dermatomal distribution. Systemicinvolvement occasionally occurs, especially in immunosuppressed hosts. Post-herpeticneuralgia is the most dreadful complication. The present review addresses the complicationsand management of this common ailment in routine and under special circumstances.
