Originality and Plagiarism
JPAD employs Turnitin software to check the similarity index of all submitted articles, in line with our commitment to maintaining high standards of academic integrity. We endorse the definitions and guidelines for plagiarism set forth by COPE, ICMJE, and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan (click for detail HEC policy).
Authors are responsible for ensuring the intellectual contribution and originality of their work and should be aware of various forms of plagiarism, including but not limited to: plagiarism of ideas, textual plagiarism, paraphrasing without proper citation, self-plagiarism, including redundant or duplicate publication, salami slicing (data fragmentation) and text recycling.
Ignorance of plagiarism or its forms will not be considered an excuse. If any manuscript submitted, accepted, or published in JPAD is found to be plagiarized, it will be handled according to COPE guidelines.
Upon discovery of plagiarism, the Editorial Board will take the following steps:
- Immediate cessation of processing or publication of the article.
- Request for an explanation from the corresponding author within 30 days.
- If an acceptable explanation is provided, the editorial board may recommend appropriate changes and resume the review process.
- In the case of non-response or an unsatisfactory explanation, the editorial board may:
- Reject the manuscript.
- Retract an already published article.
- Debar the author(s) from further publication in JPAD temporarily or permanently, depending on the severity of the offense.
- Place the author on watch for future submissions.
Additionally, relevant authorities such as HEC, PMC, PAME, and the authors' institute will be notified for information and potential action. Authors claiming intellectual theft must provide documentary proof to support their claim.
This policy ensures that research published in JPAD adheres to the highest ethical standards, promoting integrity, transparency, and responsible conduct in research and publication.
