Abstract

Plexiform neurofibromas (PNFs) are diffusely infiltrating benign overgrowths of all of the elements of a peripheral nerve. These lesions are pathognomonic of neurofibromatosis (von Recklinghausen disease) even in the absence of other typical abnormalities. We report a case of localized hypertrichosis overlying plexiform neurofibroma in a 27 year old female with no other features of neurofibromatosis.
